What Can I Do To Get Better Gas Mileage? Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this question. Something as simple as your TIRES not having the proper air pressure in them can contribute to poor Fuel Mileage. Another easy thing to have your shop check is the Wheel Alignment on your vehicle. Not only does this help you save money on gas, but it also helps Tire Wear on your car and tires will last longer. If the Check Engine Light is on in your vehicle this can also contribute to poor Gas Mileage. When your Check Engine Light comes on it’s best to get it checked out. It may be simple things such as broken vacuum lines to the intake. When this happens the Mass Air Flow Sensor can’t read the correct amount of air flowing into your engine. When this happens the PCM uses other sensors to correct the amount of fuel it adds to the engine. When Do I Need To Change My Tires? This is a good question there are several different reasons why you should change your Tires. By NYS Law any tire that has less than 2/32” tread will not pass inspection and must be replaced. Other things that you want checked during a vehicle inspection is the condition of the tires such as cuts, bulges, or wires sticking out of the tire. Any of these conditions will result in new tires be recommended. How Often Should I Change My Tires? This is another question that comes up. Tire Manufacturers recommend replacing your tires that are 6 to 10 years old regardless of how much tread depth is left on your tires. As tires age they develop small cracks in the side walls and are more susceptible to blowing out. If you are going on a trip for vacation this is something that you don’t want to happen to you.
