There really is no such thing as Lifetime Coolant. Your driving habits and what you use the vehicle for may make it necessary to have a Coolant Exchange performed on your vehicle. Depending on how you use your vehicle it may need a Coolant Exchange between 30,000 to 50,000 miles. One of the reasons a Coolant Exchange needs done is over time rust and deposits can build up in a cooling system because of the different kinds of metals in the cooling system. These deposits can plug up the small passageways in the engine and radiator when this happens the cooling system loses efficiency. You can do it yourself by opening the drain on the radiator if it has one or by taking the lower radiator hose off which makes a big mess. Why Does My 6.0 Have An Oil Cooler? Another Question we get is Where Is The Oil Cooler Located On A 6.0 Powerstroke? We will look at both questions as well as some other questions we get. First question Why Does My 6.0 Have An Oil Cooler the main reason it is there is because a diesel engine creates a lot of heat when it is working hard like pulling a loaded equipment trailer. The oil takes the heat away from the engine components and gets pushed through the Oil Cooler so that it can transfer the heat to coolant and then the Engine Coolant goes to the Radiator and from their heat gets transferred to the outside air and then begins the process all over again. Why Does My Truck Blow White Smoke? There are several reasons for Why Does My Truck Blow White Smoke that can make this happen. One of the reasons that we will talk about is a Failed EGR Cooler. What can happen over time is that the EGR Cooler can get plugged so bad that it cracks it by creating hotspots in the EGR Cooler. The EGR Cooler needs to be able to flow exhaust through the whole EGR Cooler not just around the outside edges. The carbon from the exhaust will plug the center of the EGR cooler making it lose its cooling capacity. Which in turn creates the hot spots when its under load and working. What you will notice on the first start of the day is that your truck will Blow White Smoke on startup and then clear up after several minutes. This is an indication of Can My EGR Cooler Leak. Why Does My Transmission Shift Hard? If you have a heavy-duty truck with a Manual Shift Transmission, there are several reasons why you may experience Why Does My Transmission Shift Hard. One possibility is the shift rails in the cover are binding making the shift lever move hard. To fix this condition the shift cover would have to be taken off and reconditioned so that the shift rails can move easily. Another condition that can cause this, you would notice that certain gears would shift hard, and the rest of the gears would shift easy is a Bent Shift Fork. To repair this condition the shift cover must come off and be taken apart and a new Shift Fork installed.
